Attica - Richard Allen Serie, 57, Attica, passed away in the I.U. Health Arnett Hospital, Lafayette, on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 4:30 a.m. as a result of his failing health due to renal failure. Richard was born in Lafayette, Indiana on July 9, 1965. He was the son of Janice Kay (Berry) Serie of Attica and the late Russell Eugene Serie. Richard was a life resident of Attica, graduating from Attica High School in 1983. He attended Ivy Technical Institute in Lafayette. Richard formerly worked at Rea Wire in Lafayette and in the late 80's developed the family business and became co-owner of Serie Hardwoods, Inc. Richard was raised in the catholic faith through St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Attica. He was a drummer and played with several southern rock bands. He enjoyed boating, fishing and camping. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and collecting and refurbishing classic tractors. He enjoyed hosting hog roasts and providing fire works display during the Fourth of July outings. Richard also enjoyed collecting and playing pinball machines. On July 15, 2000, Richard married Rosemay B. Furr in the Bethel Community Church east of Attica. He leaves behind his wife, Rosemary of nearly 23 years along with his mother, Janice Serie of Attica; his sons, Andrew Serie, Lafayette and Jimmy (Zoe) Mix, Chicago, IL; two brothers, Terry Serie, Argos, IN and Larry (Debbie) Serie, Lafayette; a sister, Cheryl (Steve) Fletcher, Lafayette; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Serie on December 28, 2016. Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, January 29th, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Rasner officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.Endnotes
