Death
Suddenly on Sunday December 3, 1933, Dorothy V. Furr, the beloved daughter of Claude D. and May Belle Furr. Remains resting at the W.W. Chambers Co. Funeral Home 1400 Chapin St. NW, until Wed. Dec. 6, at 12 (noon), thence to the Baptist Church, Middleburg, VA where services will be held at 2 pm. Relatives and friends invited. Five persons were killed and numerous others injured in week end auto mobile accidents in and near the Capital, a check-up disclosed today. The dead are: Mrs. Ethel Pierson, 25, of the 600 block Sixth street; Miss Dorothy Furr, 18, of the 100 block C street, and Woodrow Dean, 21, of the 200 block Kentucky avenue southeast, all of whom were in a crash on the Mount Vernon Memorial Boulevard; Lawrence N. Gale, 38, of Rosaryville, Md., who was pinned for three hours in the wreckage of his car on the Crain Highway near Queen Anne, Prince Georges County, and Coleman Butler, 21, colored, struck by a careening taxicab. Eleven persons figured in the collision in which Mrs. Pierson, Furr and Dean were killed. Mrs. Pierson died instantly. Miss Furr succumbed at 9 a. m. yesterday in Emergency Hospital and Dean expired this morning in Alexandria Hospital. Two others injured in the same crash were still in a serious condition today— Edwin Anderson, 20, of the 1800 block Ingleside Terrace, who is in Emergency, and Miss Marie Furr, 15-year-old sister of Dorothy, who is in Alexandria Hospital, suffering from broken ribs, shoulder and collar bone.
