Individual Details
Octavia FRANKLIN
(November 5, 1827 - July 9, 1907)
"The Wynkoop Family of Loudoun County Virginia," (Mrs. Robert H. Brockhurst; Pensacola, FL: 1977), as well as other researchers, incorrectly show Octavia WYNKOOP as the spouse of Richard E. FURR. LC VA Marriages 1851-1880 (Duncan & Frain) shows m. lic. issued in Loudoun Co. 15 Feb 1851 to Richard E. Furr & Octavia FRANKLIN (Benj. Franklin, age). The assumption that Richard Furr's wife Octavia was WYNKOOP, probably resulted from the confusion that Octavia Wynkoop & Octavia Franklin were about the same age, and Richard Furr happened to be the administrator for the estate of William C. Wynkoop (LC Wills 2I-391, 14 Dec 1853), brother of Octavia. The widow of William C. Wynkoop was Mary Franklin, dau of Benjamin T. Franklin. Perhaps Mary & Octavia were siblings; does anyone know?
Octavia (Franklin) Furr, b. 5 Nov 1827 in Fairfax Co., VA; d. 9 Jul 1907; bur. Union Cemetery; Leesburg, VA. In the 1860, 1870, 1880 census she is with her husband Richard E. Furr. LC VA Death Reg. 1853-1896 (Frain & Hiatt) shows that Richard E. Furr d. 27 Feb 1883, consort of Sally Furr; informant Sally Furr, wife. So, possibly AKA "Sally."
Octavia Wynkoop, b. abt. 1827 in VA; dau of Joseph F. Wynkoop & Elizabeth Stiger. In the 1860, 1870, 1880, this Octavia is found in the household of her sister, Nancy E. (Wynkoop) MORGAN, wife of John W. Morgan.
I don't think the FURR descendents listed in "Wynkoops of LC VA" are WYNKOOPs.

Sister Furr was baptized in the fellowship of tho New Valley Church June 22nd, 1876, by Elder Joseph Furr. Sister Furr made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. I. She leaves one lonely daughter, who was faithful to her in caring for her in her last days, as she was confined to her bed for at least three months prior to her death. Another faithful one has been taken from our little band. May the Lord oomfort the bereaved ones. The funeral was conducted by Elder J. N. Badger, after which her remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at Leesburg. T. S. TITUS. Leesburg, Va., Dec. 11, 1907.Endnotes
