Notes
Death
Mrs. Martha Ann Furr, age 91 years, died at her home, corner Jefferson and Carey streets, Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock, following an illness of more than one year. About two weeks ago Mrs. Furr fell at her home and fractured a bone in her arm, and this, it was thought, had a tendency to hasten her death. Mrs. Furr was the widow of the late Baker Furr, who died May 9th, 1924. Mrs. Furr was a native of Eaton, O., and was born October 9th, 1839. When quite young she came to Indiana with her parents’ family and settled in Brown county. She was left an orphan early in life. She later came to Henry county and at the age of 16 joined the M. E. Church at Maple Valley. She afterwards united with the Christian congregation in Knightstown. This was in 1885. Mr. and Mrs. Furr were married August 22nd, 1861. The survivors are Mrs. Minnie Scovell, Charles and Ed Furr; two grandchildren, Lloyd Scovell and Mrs. Edna Stickler, and three great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Furr were held at the residence yesterday (Thursday) afternoon at 3 o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. A. Addison. Interment was at Glencove cemetery in charge of Orville Wilson.Tri-County Banner, Knightstown, Indiana, March 13, 1931
