Death
Mrs. Alice V. Ward, 72, died at 8 o’clock this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Oakley Esmond, west of Ottawa, where she had lived for four years. Mrs. Ward had been in ill health for two years. Mrs. Ward had been in ill health for two years, and seriously ill several weeks. Tentative plans call for funeral services to be conducted at 1:30 p. m. Wednesday at the Esmond home. Rev. C. W. McClelland of the First Presbyterian church of Ottawa will officiate. Burial will be in Dayton cemetery. Mrs. Ward, whose maiden name was Alice Furr, was born in Manlius township September 29, 1862. She was united in marriage with Edward J. Ward, who died in 1931. Mr. and Mrs. Ward for many years lived in Dayton. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mary Griggs of Fremont, Neb., Mrs. Oakley Esmond of Ottawa, a son, William Ward, of Fargo, N. D., two sisters, Mrs. Gilbert Masters of Dayton township, and Mrs. Charles Brown of Ottawa, two brothers, Elery Furr of Newago, Mich., and Charles Furr of White, S. D. Two brothers, Bruce Furr and Luther Furr, preceded her in death.Endnotes
