Death

Karen Lee Hale, 63, of Lorena passed away Tuesday, November 23, after a short but hard fought battle with cancer, with her daughters by her side. Karen was born March 5, 1958, in Ohio, to Willis and JoAnn Furr. In June of 1979 she married the love of her life and went on to raise three daughters and a stepdaughter. Karen worked at Lorena ISD from the time her girls were in school up until her retirement in 2019. Through the years she became a second mom to so many students and their beloved Mrs. Hale. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 34 years, Ed Hale; her sister, Teri Smith; and brothers, Bill, Ron and Ed. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Wendy Drinkwater and husband Kevin, of Middleburg, FL, Amanda Hartzell and husband Brandon, of Pearland, Tiffany Carnes and fiancé Michael Pope, of Robinson, and Brittany Hale; grandchildren, Tommy, Karleigh, Peyton, Kamryn, Kaleb, Joshua and Christopher; her sister, Sharon Miller and husband Mike; and so many nieces and nephews that loved her just as much as she loved them.
