Death
Henry Herschel "Scotty" Laird 96, was born October 21, 1907 in Hillsboro, Indiana, the son of George E. and Eva O. (Furr) Laird. Scotty had a very useful life with many changes of careers starting with milking cows at Purdue and going to school. He served in the Navy during WWII. He also was the Supervisor of Planning and Standards at the Schwitzer Corporation for 25 years, retiring in 1970. After retiring he spent 20 years farming. He was a 50 year member of the Veedersburg Masonic Lodge and also a member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. Scotty enjoyed life with his wife Cecelia and 2 sons Edward and Thomas. They took many enjoyable vacations together. He is preceded in death by his wife Cecelia G. (Kaiser) Laird and his son Edward J. Laird. He is survived by his son and daughter in law; Thomas J. Laird and Lisa Jackson, grandchildren; Ellie and Sam Jackson-Laird, and sister; Dolly Grubb. Funeral services will be Friday August 6, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Calling will be Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary.
