Death
John "Tom" Isaac Thompson, 83, died at 10:15 AM Thursday, March 29, 2001, in his Lafayette residence. Born Aug. 15, 1917, at New Ross, he had been a Lafayette resident most of his life. On May 29, 1972, he married Mary Lee Browning at Galletion, TN, and she survives. Mr. Thompson retired in 1982 from maintenance at National Homes Corp, after working there 37 years. After retiring, he was a self-employed carpenter. He was an Army veteran and member of Pentecostal Church of God, American Legion Post 11, Fraternal Order of Police, and a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed motorcycles, camping and repair work. Surviving with his wife are a son, Lawrence "Doc" (Pat)Thompson of Wingate; four daughters, Barbara (Jim) Hayworth of Delphi, Sue (Gary) Tague of Crawfordsville, Lisa (Michael) Wise, and Crystal Thompson, both of Lafayette; a stepdaughter, Patricia (Darrell) Gill of West Lafayette; three brothers, Harold "Red" Thompson, Rex Thompson, both of Crawfordsville, and Stanley "Bud" Thompson of Florida; a half-brother, Homer Dean Thompson of West Lafayette; a half-sister, Brenda Martin of Attica; nine grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
