VEEDERSBURG, Ind. _ Ruby M. Townsend, 92, of Veedersburg, died at 8:12 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 11, 2001) at Provena USMC, Logan campus in Danville. She was born May 24, 1909, in Veedersburg, the daughter of Raymond and Alina Reed Furr. She married Ben E. Townsend in December of 1925 in Veedersburg. He preceded her in death. Survivors include: two daughters, Lorna (Richard) Rusk of Veedersburg and Dorla Hartsaw of Syracuse, Ind.; one son, Daryel (Rosemary) Townsend of Summerfield, Fla.; one sister, Margaret Jenks of Veedersburg; two brothers, Lawrence Furr of Veedersburg and Robert Furr of Noblesville, Ind.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Loren and Dorwin, and a sister. Mrs. Townsend was a member of the United Methodist Church in Veedersburg, the Rural Troy Homemakers Club and the Friendship Garden Club of Fountain County. She was a former member of the Bonebrake Cemetery League and the Lioness Club of Veedersburg. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, at the United Methodist Church in Veedersburg; Officiating, Rev. Rob Rixman; Burial: Bonebrake Cemetery near Veedersburg; Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 at the Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg; Memorials: United Methodist Church or charity of the donor's choice.Endnotes
