HILLSBORO -- Alan J. "Fuzzy" Furr, 55, of Hillsboro, died at 1:26 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2010, in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, as a result of a heart attack suffered on Monday. Hillsboro – Alan J. 'Fuzzy' Furr, 55 and longtime resident of Hillsboro, died Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 1:26 p.m. in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, as a result of a heart attack suffered on Monday. Born in Danville, Ill. on Dec. 18, 1954, he was the son of Glenn C. and Virginia (Linker) Furr. Fuzzy was a 1973 graduate of Fountain Central High School, he had also attended Purdue University. He had been a semi driver for Ro-Di Oil Co. of Veedersburg, delivering gasoline since 1994. Previously he had been employed by Daniel Ribbe Trucking Co. in Bismark, Ill. Fuzzy was an active member of the Hillsboro Booster Club, where he served as treasurer. In 2009 he was named Citizen of the Year of Hillsboro for his dedication to the community. Also, he served as president of the Mustang Club. He enjoyed camping, the beach and air shows. Fuzzy had a distinctive laugh and infectious smile and was loved by all who knew him. Fuzzy had previously been married to Darcy Foster with whom he had three children: two daughters, Alli (fiancé Trevor Dowers) Furr of Cayuga and Jayci Furr of Veedersburg; a son, Colin Furr of Hillsboro and granddaughter, Braylin Dowers; two sisters: Jeri (Jack) Downs of Hillsboro and Teri (Don) Dyson of Crawfordsville; also many nieces and nephews survive. The family will greet guests Monday, July 19 at the Sterling Christian Church, Veedersburg, 3-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the church Tuesday, 1 p.m. with Dave Sims officiating. Burial will follow in Rockfield Cemetery near Hillsboro. The family encourages in lieu of floral arrangements memorials may best be directed to Hillsboro Booster Club or The Mustang Club, with envelopes available. Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family with arrangements.
