Individual Details

Harmanus (third one in Amenia) KNICKERBOCKER {K-102}

(Abt 1765 - Abt 1812)

Events

BirthAbt 1765There were 3 men named Harmanus Knick in Amenia in 1790. Two are easily traced: Harmanus Sr and Jr. This is the third, mysterious one. He is probably the key to some of the Amenia mysteries. - Duchess County, New York, USA
Knick References1765This "Harmanus" was very hard to trace. See the report "Knickerbockers fo Amenia" on knic.com.
Knick Lineage17651. HJ / 2. Lourens / 3. Harmanus / 4. Lawrence / 5. Harmanus (this person)
Knick Generation Number17655
Extra information1766There are younger untraced Knickerbockers related to the Amenia NY / Ontario Co NY /Michigan clans: Calvin, Albert, Alanson#1, and Amanda. I believe all four were children of the "extra" Harmanus in the 1790 census. Still looking for proof.
Extra information1766Notice that we have marriage records for both Amanda and Albert. Each got married in Amenia (1716 & 1718). There had to be an elder Knickerbocker still in Amenia after initial wave left for Ontario County, but before the 2nd wave went to Ontario Co.
Residence1790Three men named "Harmanus Knickerbocker" on the same page of the census. - Amenia, Dutchess, New York, United States
Extra information17921. Amanda was dau of "Harman Knickerbocker." 2. She married in Amenia. 3. She once lived in Ontario Co. 4. Not listed as a child of the soldier, Harmanus Knickerbocker, in Ontario Co. Thus, Amanda must be linked to this extra Harmanus.
Residence1800Look at the census sheet. This census taker used the word "Junior" when he found fathers and sons. Here, the census taker said "ye 2nd." Therefore this is not Harmanus Junior, but instead is a repeat appearance of the mysterious third Harmanus. - Amenia, Dutchess, New York
Extra information1808Alanson the blacksmith was born in 1808. For the rest of his life he had very close ties to Calvin and Albert. For example, see their real estate transactions when all 3 reached Michigan.
Residence1810Man & woman > 45. 5 boys and 3 girls. - Armenia, Dutchess, New York, United States
DeathAbt 1812Amenia, Dutchess County, New York, USA
