Eula Maxine Johnson

Maxine White Martin, 78, of Hamburg died Sunday, June 23, 2002, at the Ashley County Medical Center. A native of Crossett and a resident of Hamburg since 1958, she was the cafeteria manager at Portis Elementary School and the Hamburg High School. She retired in 1988 after 22 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil White, in 1993; parents, Abe F. and Eula Maude Higginbotham Johnson; three brothers, Abe Johnson Jr., Lovell Johnson and Aubrey Carl Johnson; one sister, Eloise Clark; and one step-son, Phillip Martin.
Survivors include her husband, Gerald Martin; one son, Wiley Cecil White Jr. and wife Sue of Junction City; one daughter, Linda Hickman and husband Teddy of Hamburg; one brother, Larry W. Johnson of Crossett; one sister, Robbie Corker of Peel; one step-daughter, Becky Brookshire and husband John of Mexico City, Mexico; one step-daughter-in-law, Shelia Martin of Auburn, AL; six grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were planned for Wednesday, June 26, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church with the Revs. Joey Meredith, Clyde Mitchell and Orville Clark officiating. Burial was to follow services at Promise Land Cemetery under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg. Pallbearers are to be Barry White, Todd Hickman, Brent Johnson, Darren Johnson, Rusty Savage and Doyle Blankenship. Honorary pallbearers are to be Houston Hart, Danny Roberts, Harry Davey, Dwayne Fulgham, Billy Stell, Johnny Foster, Kenneth Edwards and the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
