Parker Will Bawcom

Funeral services for Mr. Parker W. Bawcom, age 91, of Bastrop, will be 2 p.m. Friday, January 28, 2005 at the Chapel of Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop with Waymon Swain and Darwin Hunter officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
Mr. Bawcom was born May 21, 1913 in Trafalger, Arkansas and died January 25, 2005 at Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop. Mr. Bawcom was a member of the Central Church of Christ in Bastrop and he was the retired owner of Bawcom's Grocery and Service Station. Mr. Bawcom is preceded in death by his parents; James Wesley and Carrie Copeland Bawcom, and two grandchildren; Laura Leigh Wilson and Cory Hayman.
Surviving Mr. Bawcom is his wife of sixty-six years; Laurie Bawcom of Bastrop, three daughters; Ava Nell Linzay and husband David Linzay of Monroe, Betty Wilson and husband Larry Wilson of Bastrop, Linda Hayman and husband William Hayman of Monroe, sister; Juanita Gammel of Crossett, Arkansas, two brothers; twin brother, Burney Bawcom of Searcy, Arkansas, and Elbert Bawcom of McGhee, Arkansas, five grandchildren; Pam Traweek, Missy Williams, Cristy Goss, Betsy Culp, Neil Hayman, and twelve great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Dean Bawcom, Jimmy Gammel, Billy Gammel, Lamar Gammel, H.J. Roberts, and Tannie Tulley.
Honorary pallbearers are Coleman Spann, Buddy Anderson, James Sliger, Dr. Carter Cox, Micheal Reynolds, and Earl Jones.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 5 p.m. till 8 p.m at Cox Funeral Home, Bastrop.
The family request that planned memorials be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital.
