Maurice M. Coursey, 91, passed away on May 28, 2011. Born August 22, 1919 in Mississippi, she spent most of her life there as a chemist, teacher and fulltime homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pensacola. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ethel Morris; her sisters, Annie Laura Garvin and Maudell Hill; and her husband, John P. Coursey. Survivors include her daughter, Bettye Workman; son, Kenneth (Cathy) Coursey; granddaughters, Heather Coursey and Hillary (Matt) Homan; great grandsons, Landon, Johnathan, and Cooper Homan; and several nieces and nephews. The family thanks Dr. Andrea Hackel, Jamice Hoff, R.N.P., and the dedicated staff of Baptist Manor for their years of compassionate care; her sitters of this past year for their kind help; and her Baptist Manor friend and roommate, Nell Stough, for her love and companionship. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Samaritan Hands, First Baptist Church of Pensacola, or a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 1, at Eastern Gate Funeral Home with the Reverend Don Minton officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time for the service. Eastern Gate Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
