DAVENPORT - J. Celeste Fairweather died Saturday, October 17, 2009, at Genesis West Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 23, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Bettendorf Christian Church.
Celeste was born in Hamburg, Ark., on April 25, 1915. She married Eugene Price on August 25, 1937. Survivors include one sister, Carrie Austin, two sons, David and John Fairweather and spouses, one daughter, Mary Meehan and spouse, nine grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, three sisters, one brother, and a great-grandson.
Celeste was employed by Ruhl & Ruhl, retiring after 15 years of service. She was a member of Bettendorf Christian Church. She helped start a chapter of the Red Hat Club, serving as Queen Mother during its first year of activities. Celeste enjoyed playing cards, listening to music, taking short trips, participating in activities with Bettendorf senior citizens, and luncheons and gatherings with friends and family.
