Mr. Thomas Collins, Jr., 75, of Hamburg died Friday, September 3, 1999, at the Beverly Health Care nursing home in Hamburg. A Hamburg native and a former resident of New Iberia, LA, he had lived in Hamburg since 1988. He was a retired oil well driller, an U. S. Army veteran of World War II, and a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, T. T. and Della Kelley Collins; four brothers and four sisters. Survivors include a brother, Jesse Collins, and a sister, Dorothy Griffith, both of Hamburg, and 16 nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 4, in the Promise Land Baptist Church with Revs. Kelly Clark and Jeff Alderman officiating. Pallbearers were nephews Steve, Larry, Richard, Ray and Ronnie Collins, Charles Stell, S. T. Blackman and Mike Griffith. Burial followed services at the Promise Land Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg.
