Billy Wayne Stafford Sr.

Mr. Billy Wayne Stafford, Sr., 68, of Hamburg died Sunday, April 3, 2005, at St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock. A native and life long resident of Hamburg, he worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 42 years until retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church where he served as the Sunday School Superintendent. He was an avid Razorback fan, was active in all youth sports in Hamburg and coached baseball for 48 years. He was a past president of the Woodmen of the World for the state of Arkansas Chapter for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Cason Stafford; three sons, Billy Wayne "Bubba" Stafford Jr. and wife Candy; Scotty Stafford and Joseph Stafford, all of Hamburg; two daughters, Robin Stafford of Hamburg and Gail Stafford Shepherd and husband Eddie of Gould; two step-sons, Glen Cason of San Jose, CA, and Mark Cason of Tunica, LA; two step-daughters, Jennifer Sharpe of Hamburg and Diane Butler and husband Wayne of Natchez, MS; a brother, Jimmy Don Stafford of Crossett; two sisters, Mary Ann Stanley of Hamburg and Nina Howenstien of Houston, TX; 20 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Clauzelle Shelton Stafford.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, in the Southside Baptist Church with Revs. Charles Pullin and William Byers officiating. Burial will be in the Eden Cemetery. Pallbearers are to be Don Kelley, Norman Higginbotham, Charles Berryman, Mack Tomerlin, Jr., Herman Pippen, Raymond McGaughey, James Higginbotham, Floyd Fairchild, and Glen Lawson. Honorary pallbearers are grandsons. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
