Note1900According to his nephew Dr John Bothroyd he “had blue eyes and was very fair … He was a nice man, my mother was very fond of him”. One of his sons “was Colin, who at one time was engaged to a Catholic. The priest told him the children had to be Catholic too, and Jack broke off the engagement. There was a court case, and he had to pay damages. A Presbyterian parson had supported Jack during this trouble, and Colin later married his daughter”
