Nicholas J. Pappas Personal History, January 1999 (in possession of Carol Kostakos Petranek) states: "James, a very talented pianist with a beautiful singing voice, died at age 32 on May 19, our son Jim's birthday. I have a recording of a choral group in which James has a solo part and which moves me to tears whenever I listen to it."

I had a death date of May 19, 1987 which may have come from the Paul Morfogen biography; there was a death date of May 17, 1988 on FamilySearch tree. I may use the May 17, 1988 date as the person had a source of James' sister, Athanasia, for their mother's death date and that may be more accurate than the Morfogen info.
