Panorea Kostakos to Carol Petranek, July 2016, Agios Ioannis, Sparta: The original name of the Koniditsiotis family was Anagnostopoulos, and they moved from Koniditsa, Laconia to the Sparta area. After they moved to Amykles, they were known as Koniditsiotis or the family from Koniditsa. All those who moved to Amykles were related. Maragas was the "nickname" of my grandmother's Panagiota family. Their actual name is Anastasakos from Anogeia.
June 2018 - Carol Kostakos Petranek met Efstathios at the home of his daughter, Eleni Kostakos in Agios Ioannis. Carol asked him about his life. He said he was a farmer, and he was a psaltis for 58 years. He chants Byzantine music at Koimisi tis Theotokos, the main church in Amykles. Efstathios said he had been the vice president of the Amykles Town Council. He oversaw the operation of the olive oil press and also of the watering of the trees and plants which someone had to do at night. He dug ditches for drainage. During threshing season, he slept outdoors. The threshing process took a long time. Efstathios was 23 when he married his wife, and she was 25. For her prika (dowry), she had two olive fields in Anogeia, 1 sheep, 1 cheese. Her family had sheep, and her father was a shepherd. Efstathios and Panagiota had a donkey and a horse, but they used them to carry things, not for their own transportation. He waked back and forth to the fields.
Eleni Kostakos said her father had lived in Texas for 10 years. He made very little money and returned to Greece. Did she mean her grandfather?

Email from Panorea Kostakos, April 13, 2020: Hello dear cousin,Unfortunately I have some bad news to share with you. My grandfather passed away last Friday and he was burried yesterday. Very few people were able to attend his funeral because of this crazy situation. He died peacefully as he was having his supper and when we sad goodbye to him he looked like he was just sleeping.
