Obituary
The Rev. Nicholas Triandafilou, 95, pastor emeritus of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, died Monday in Middlesex General Hospital, New Brunswick. He lived at 308 South Fourth Avenue, Highland Park.
Father Triandafilou served as pastor for 35 years at St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Trenton and also for several years at St. George Greek Orthodox Church of Highland Park.
Born in Volos, Greece, he lived in Morrisville for about 35 years before moving to Highland Park four years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Panegiota Chronis Triandafilou; three daughters: Mrs. Fay Anton of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Michael Horvath of Highland Park and Mrs. Evelyn Rankin of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sons, Louis of Highland Park and Andrew of Rye, N.Y., two sisters in Greece, and 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Presanctified liturgy services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Mercer and Market Streets. Services will be at 11:15 a.m. with the Most Rev. Germanos Polyzoides, Metropolitan of Kierapolis, acting as chief celebrant, and the Rev. Peter A. Atsales, officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of the M. William Murphy Funeral Home.
Father Triandafilou will lie in state in the church from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday. Contributions may be made to the St. George Greek Orthodox Church Building Fund.
