Andrew passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008, at the Richard Rosenthal Hospice at Stamford Hospital. Andrew was born in Worcester, Mass. On November 29, 1919. He was the second youngest of seven children of the late Panagiota and Rev. Nicholas Triandafilou, a Greek Orthodox priest who established the Trenton, NJ parish. Andrew proudly served his country in the Marine Corps and Reserve, attaining the rank of Captain. He was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 13th Marines, 5th Marine Division Fleet Marine Force and he fought in the battle of Iwo Jima in the WWII "D-Day of the Pacific". Andrew graduated with a degree in business administration from Rider College, where he played on the varsity tennis team. He married his college sweetheart Irene (Pulcer); they were married for thirty-six years until her passing in 1982. Andrew was a hardworking entrepreneur in the maritime industry. He owned and operated many successful U.S. and Greek companies. Andrew was a founder of the Greek Orthodox Church of Our Savior in Rye. He was an active member of the Westchester County Club for fifty years, and enjoyed playing tennis and socializing. He owned a home on club grounds and later moved into a residence at the club building in 1986. Known as Andy and Mr. T., he was good-natured, generous, loyal, and loved to tell jokes. Andrew is survived by his sister Jean Horvath of Milltown, NJ, his four sons, Andrew of Stamford, CT, Charles and Peter of Seattle, WA, and Gregory of Phoenix, AZ his granddaughters Kristine and Amanda, and many nieces and nephews. Andrew also will be greatly missed by his close friends whom he considered to be family, including Liz Plate, her daughters Elise and Linda and their families, Maria Spanakos and Stephen Vasaka. The wake will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at the Graham Funeral Home, 1036 Boston Post Road, Rye, NY.
