RAKIS’ FAMILY RESTAURANT
Along with most of the other new eating places, Rakis’ Family Restaurant on Temple Street near West Hollis is a family affair. But in this case, father, mother, children, and cousins are all in it together. Located in a counter-serve restaurant that used to be Poseiden’s, Rakis specializes in sandwiches, onion rings and fried fish. Open longer than any of the new places - since July 28 — it caters to people working in the area, said the owner’s daughter, Potoula Rakis. Her father John was in Nashua having dinner at the Parthenon, a Greek restaurant, and passed by the empty site, she said. He hadn’t really been looking for a restaurant, though the family had owned a similar type of fast-food place in Leominster, Mass. Just prior to moving to Nashua to run Rakis, the family had lived in Greece, Potoula Rakis said. The family made few changes in the Nashua site, she said, figuring they would try to make a go of it for a few months and "forget it, if it didn’t go.” So far, ifs going well, she said. Rakis Family Restaurant 200 Temple Street Lunch and Dinner: ll arn. to IO p.m. Sandwiches ranging from egg salad 60 cents. Most are in $1.10-$1.35 price range. French fries, onion rings. Seafood $4.25-$ll. Nineteen different Bubs from $2.10. Italian dinners, seafood and chicken plates. Atmosphere: Counter service with booths and take-out.
