News Pub (ind)2 Nov 1927the Kiama Reporter & Illawarra Journal reported:"OBITUARY. MR. WILLIAM WINLEY-Aged 77. The death took place on Thursday last of Mr. Wm. Winley, aged 77 years, at his home, Fairy Meadow, near Wollongong. He was well known in this district and born at Jerrara and for a number of years carried on farming in the Gerringong district. He was a man of the highest integrity and of sterling characters, his sincere religious convictions recognised and admired by all who knew him. As a local preacher in the Methodist Church he gave great service to his church and even in retirement carried on the good work, and at his death was superintendent of the Sunday School at Fairy Meadow. The interment took place at Wollongong on Friday last. The late Mr Winley married Miss Alexander of Jamberoo (sister of Mr. Alexander, of Parkmount and they celebrated their golden wedding only a few months ago). Besides his widow, three sons in Messrs. Sam, James and Wesley Winley, and two daughters survive. Mrs. P. Malzard is also a sister of the deceased. The cause of death was a stroke, which occurred when Mr. Winley was guest at the wedding of one of his Sunday School scholars, and he passed away after some 3 days of illness. Sympathy is extended to Mr. James Winley of Ivy Mount, Gerringong, and the rest of the family in their bereavement"
