From Abstracts of Unrecorded Wills of York County, PA 1749-1798 by South Central PA Genealogical Society Special Publication #40, Jul/Oct 1989. George Quickel's Will translated by Jacob Barnits dated b Feb. 1784 George Quickel in Dover township, very weak. "To wife, Marie Ursala one white headed cow and fodder for cow, 10 bushels of wheat 80 pounds of pork, (etc.) To oldest son, Philip the place in Dover township where I lived for 450 pounds. Household furniture and cattle shall be sold at public venue. Emanuel Seib shall leave as much grain in the ground as there was at the time he got the place, and of the additional he sowed, he shall have half, and the other half shall come to the place. Children-oldest son Philip, heirs of son Peter,son Adam, daughter Barbara, daughter Dorthea, daughter Anna Maria to share equally. Executors: John Hanise and Frederick Eicholtz. Witnesses: Jacob Hoffman and Frederick Rothbauscht. Testator marked. Probated 22 February 1784 with witnesses making oath."

He came with family from Germany by way of Rotterdam, Holland aboard Brigantine John, landed at Philadelphia October 19, 1736 and settled in Manheim Twp., Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, ancestry is German.

Penna German Pioneers (Penna German Society) by Ralph Beaver Strassburger and William John Hike (1934) in Volume 1 Page #167, also attending on Brigantine John were the following:

Johan Philippus Quickel, John Michel Quickel, Johan George Quickel.

There were 37 Foreigners from the Palatinate, with their families making in all 100 persons landed. the named 37 individuals were all male.
