Wills J-257 At York COunty Historical SOciety states that Philip
Hoffman married Sabina, d/o Cath. Sheffer, Dover Twp., widow.
Catharine married the second time to Jacob Shaeffer, a widower who
lived west of Dover and he died in 1794.
Her will was dated 8 Mar 1796.
The descendants of Catharine were the only ones of the immigrant
Philip Quickel that remained in York County PA. Quite a number of
these married descendants of George and Michael Quickel, the two
brothers of Philip. The first six were born in Lancaster COunty PA.

Brandau, died Feb 1796 in Dover Twp York Co PA and married to

Text: The marriage record of Melchior Benedick shows that he was a native
of Zweybrecht, Germany. He landed at Philadelphia on 26 Sept. 1749,
married Catharine Quickel on March 10, 1752, and moved into York
County about 1763. He settled on a 106 acre tract of land located
in what is now Conewago Twp. York Co PA where he died and was buried
at the QUickel church. His will was
probated 26 May 1784.
Catharine later married a Jacob Sheaffer, a widower who lived west
of Dover and he died in 1794. Her will was dated 8 March 1796. The
descendants of Catharine were the only one of the immigrant Philip
Quickel that remained in York County PA.
