listed in 1880 census for Nancy Taylor RiggMarriage
Elizabeth married John Daniels after the death of John Taylor, and there is no further record of her after 1840 Anderson Co., KY census. This is probably the husband of her sister Polly deceased.Elizabeth and John were married about 1847, and had one son, James, who appears with Elizabeth Daniels in the 1860 and 1870 Platte, Buchanan, MO census.
This would explain why a single woman would move with her children from Kentucky to Missouri in 1847, as indicated by Glenn Bosley records. He also indicates that she died in Buchanan Co, Missouri in 1875.
There is not a record of John Daniels with Polly from 1850 til his death. So she is presumed deceased before 1850.
Note
Rigg family history by Glenn Bosley indicates that Elizabeth Taylor came with her children to Missouri in 1847, however, I cannot find her in the 1850 census in Missouri or Kentucky as Elizabeth Taylor.I believe she married John Daniel -- a second marriage for both of them -- in 1847. John and Elizabeth Daniels live next door to Richard and Nancy Taylor Rigg and Henry & Katherine Taylor Rigg in 1850 Buchanan Co., MO census. Also,. there is a marriage record for John Daniel, Sr. and Elizabeth Taylor on 1 Oct 1847 in Buchanan Co., MO.
It appears that John and Elizabeth had a son, James, listed as age 2 in the 1850 census. Also, Elizabeth and James are listed in the will of John Daniel dated 23 Mar 1850.
This means that Elizabeth Briscoe Taylor married the John Daniel, the father-in-law of her daughters Nancy and Katherine.
Biography-shared
Owen Daniel, one of the representative citizens and substantial farmers of Platte township, Buchanan County, who resides on his well-improved farm of 236 acres, in section 19, township 55, range 33, was born on this property in a little pioneer log house 16 by 18 feet in dimensions, on May 28, 1840, and is a son of John and Maria(Hite) Daniel.
John Daniel, our subject's father, was born in Virginia and removed to Shelby County, Kentucky, at the age of 17 years. He owned slaves and property in the vicinity of Louisville prior to coming to Buchanan County, Missouri, after his second marriage, in 1832. He entered 160 acres of land for himself and claims for his children, and owned some 100 acres additional, which he purchased. At the time of his death, in 1862, he left money for our subject to use in obtaining a good education, but it was never applied to that purpose.
John Daniel was married three times and became the father of 16 children. His first
marriage was to a Miss Briscoe, and they had 13 children.
His second union was with Maria Hite, present home farm, at the age of 32 years. The two children of this marriage were: William, who joined the Confederate Army, was subsequently taken prisoner and later, after his release, was killed in a skirmish; and Owen, the subject of this sketch.
The third marriage of Mr. Daniel was to his sister-in-law, Mrs. Elizabeth (Briscoe)
Taylor, and they had one son, James, now a resident of Oregon.
Our subject was 12 years old when his father died.
