Robert DEARDORFF

(10 November 1808 - )

Birth date confirmed by Copy of Samuel Deardorff's Bible, from Patricia M. Kirby, 1992

Per Chet Peters Book: Robert worked on his father's farm during his youth, then worked on the building of the Ohio canals. Later, apprenticed himself to a carpenter. When brother Peter relinquished his property in Wayne Twp., IND., Robert took it over and hewed out a farm for himself. He constructed his own house and barn, and lived on the property for many years. Robert added to his farm holdings as the opportunity arose, and at his death he owned over 1000 acres of land. He was an alert farmer, and made the best possible use of those acres. In 1855 they sold the "home place" and moved to Union Twp., Tippecanoe Co., IND. and remained at this home until death.

Born at Bedford Co., Virginia
