Note
How very special! It is the photo of Aunt Jessie (Rigg) and her family! Uncle Glen Bosley is above on the left, then Glen Junior, Norman, Isabelle below left, and Cleo Fleaharty. Jessie is Dad's older sister. They lived in Clifton. Glen had a farm and raised fruit, etc. Glen Junior was alive and living in Hastings, I believe, as of a very few years ago. Isabelle married John Shephard, a surveyor who had a company here for many years. Poor Isabelle had a bit of a problem with ETOH, and finally died here in GJT. John died not too many years ago. Cleo married Clarence Fleaharty (sp?), had children, lived on Patterson near us for a while! Their son Stanley was a close friend of mine in 6th grade when we both went to Tope Elementary School! I think they moved to the SEA area, and Stan may have passed on by now. Seems like I had heard that! They had other children, including a younger son and 2 or 3 daughters, but that is rough on history. It seemed as if Cleo and Clarence were somewhat apart from the rest of the family. Glen Junior was an educator, maybe a Superintendent of Schools in NE someplace, maybe even in or near Hastings. They all lived in NE at one time or another, at least as I recall! Norm was between Jim and Jack in age. He was so sharp! Really good in baseball and sports. Then, in college he had trouble seeing the ball, and some years later he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. He probably had it when in college at Greeley. He was in the Army in Europe during the war, and I always remember his comment that when they ran up against the Red Army when they joined forces at some river in Germany... he said the Russian Army and men were the roughest meanest toughest he ever saw! Norm was accepted into medical school when I was a Junior in Med School. He bought our home in DEN at 1230 Garfield, but unfortunately he did not keep up on some school things and quit after the first year. I really think the MS was present then, and it likely affected his functioning. He and brother Jack both entered med school at the same time, and both quit! They were older, yes, but they also had othe interests. Norm had a son and daughter, and his former wife lives here in GJT. She came be the office a couple of months ago... seemed to have a terribly tough time remembering just who I was, thought I was Bob Jr., recalled Roberta, etc. Her name was Jeanne, and I will have to think about her maiden name. Isabelle married John Shephard, as mentioned, but she had a real "love" for a John Huck, who worked for Dad in Grand Island and later came to GJT and worked for Dad all his life! John and Isabelle knew each other in NE, and that was when all the Bosley family were living there. They, too, all moved back to CO! Cleo may have just sort of married and left the family, but they did live here in GJT! I liked Stan, we had some good times together as little boys! He was very smart, but a goof-off like some of the rest of us!Aunt Jessie and Uncle Glen had tough times! They never had running water or heat except for the wood fireplace in their home. We used to go visit then very often, like almost every week or so, sometimes at the Clifton Church, played in the barn and chased around the fruit trees and in the fields. I liked Norm! He was good guy... he and Jim and Jack were quite close, and I was just the little brother who was often in the way! He asked me catch the ball for him so he could practice his pitching... he could throw so hard... it broke all my fingernails off on the hand that had the mitt on! Seems like all the original Bosley family were from the Clifton area, and of course, Aunt Jessie moved with the family to La Junta and on to NE where they lived for quite a few years. Aunt Jessie and Grandma Rigg were somewhat alike... they called the overpass along the railroad (it is still there) something different, like instead of Bridges Switch, it was "Swridges Bitch".
The families did get together a lot! Grandma, Connie, Jessie and family, Dad and all of us, plus the Joe Rigg family, other cousins, etc.
Anyway, that is a great photo! Brings back good memories!
Love... and more to come! Even more spicey family history! They were all good folks!
Daddy
