Son of Mr. & Mrs. Hans George Etter (mother was Anna Wein or Mirgit Otlersin). Born at Rittershoffen, Germany, now Alsace, France.
His father immigrated 25 August 1735 aboard the Billender Oliver.
George "Henry" came later, immigrating 28 August 1750; Ship, Phoenix.
Married Eva Margaretha Leichtman about 1768 , probably Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Revolutionary War Veteran - Service, May 1778; Lancaster Co. Mititia, Col. Lower's Battalion, Capt. Robinson's Company.
Family records state "burial plot on the Etter Farm, Guilford Township, Franklin, Pennsylvania." (Now known as Spring Grove Cemetery)
Biography
Henry Etter Sr. was actually - George Heinrich (Henry Etter Sr.) Etter. He went by Henry. His birth date April 22, 1733 in Rittershoffen, Germany [now Alsace, France]. He died November 16, 1808 in Mt. Joy Township, Franklin County PA. He arrived in the USA via the sailing ship "Phoenix"; they landed in PA. He was married to Eve. Only two children were written in our Bible..they were, Henry Etter Jr. and Elizabeth Etter, she married Frank Ebersole. Henry Etter Sr.'s father was Hans George Etter (or George Hans Etter), written both way in the bible. Born 1709 in Prussia, died in 1773in PA, he was married twice. (1) Anna Wein, and (2) Mirgit Otlersin, (now I have no idea which child goes with which woman) but there are 11 children. He arrived aboard the sailing ship "Billender Oliver" on August 25, 1735. Parentage unknown. Born at Rechenbach, Alsace-Lorraine Provence.
Married about 1760 (1) Widower, Johannes "Hans" Etter, at Pennsylvania.
Eva was received into the Donegal Moravian Church 23 November 1762; her first communion was given in June of 1764. The life story of Johannes and Eva is contained in the Church Records.
They had two children of record, Johannes 1762-1822 and Samuel 1765-1809. Eva was widowed in 1767 when Johannes died on 9 June.
Eva married again, about 1768 (2) Georg Heinrich "Henry" Etter at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He and their son, Henry Jr., were buried at the Etter Farm, aka "Etter Graveyard", aka "Spring Garden Cemetery", Franklin, Pennsylvania.
Their daughter, Elizabeth, married John Ebersole; they are buried alongside one another at the Old Swamp Cemetery, Carrolton, Carroll, Ohio.
