The Virginian PilotShirley Lynn Haskins
Virginia Beach - Shirley Lynn Haskins, 80 died peacefully in her home on February 9, 2013 with her husband Charlie at her side.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Charles G. Haskins. Born in Grand Island, Nebraska, she was the daughter of Dr. Robert R. and Mrs. Joy E. Rigg of Grand Junction, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters LaVaun Hendrix of Las Vegas, Nevada and Betty Ross of Mill River, Massachusetts.
Shirley received her B.S. from Oklahoma State University in 1954 and her M.S. in Human Nutrition and Foods from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1988. She was a member of the American Dietetic Association and Kappa Delta Sorority. She especially enjoyed the opera, travel, reading, and spending times with her dear friends Larry and Linda Gerick and Dean and Georgette Cyr.
The attentive services provided to Shirley by the Heartland Hospice and Seniorcorp professionals are most sincerely appreciated. The kindness and gentleness of Helen Sample of Seniorcorp provided Shirley with special loving comfort and quality of life.
