Death
Charles K. Furr, age 85, of Devon, PA, passed away on August 8, 2014. Born in Amarillo, Texas, Charles lived, taught and painted in Mexico, in the Mediterranean and in the Southwest United States for over 60 years. He was the son of the late Key and Juanita Furr (nee Wagner). He studied fine arts and anthropology in Texas, Colorado, New York, Florence, Italy, Boston, Massachusetts and Mexico D.F. He taught at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He also taught at the University of Colorado in Boulder and at the College in Gunnison, Colorado. Throughout his career as an artist, Charles exhibited work in Pennsylvania, New Mexico, Texas, Colorado, Italy and Mexico. He continued painting up until his death on August 8. He is survived by his wife Beatriz (nee Villanueva), his daughters Cecily Englander (David) and Sarah Furr Zebrowski (Jon), his sons Daniel (Miyako), Guillermo Trejo-Mejia (Teresa), Toledo San Miguel (Dominga) and Luis Furr, 12 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 2 nieces. Services and Interment will be private. Contributions in his memory to Paoli Memorial Hospital, 255 W. Lancaster Avenue, Paoli, PA 19301 would be appreciated.Endnotes
