Death

Final rites were held Wednesday, April 30, at 11 a. m., in the Bethel Baptist Church for Mrs. Sadie Jane Hoggatt, 82, who died Monday at 1:35 p. m., at Riverside Medical Center. She was a resident of Route 4, Franklinton. Poole Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Rev. W. E. Baker conducted the services and interment followed in the Bethel Cemetery. Mrs. Hoggatt is survived by five sons: Bufford of Memphis, Tenn.; Paul and Marshall of Jacksonville, Florida; James M. of Punte Gorda, Florida; William H. of Hillard, Florida; three daughters, Mrs. Christine Spring and Mrs. Catherine Johnson of Denham Springs, and Mrs. Evelyn Thorne of Malibu, California; one brother, Luther Furr of Tylertown, Miss.; and 20 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Active: Russell Bourke, James Spring, Douglas Spring, Johnny Spring, Fred Hoggatt, and James Bufford Hoggatt, Jr. Honorary: Layton Carr, Ambus Myles, Miah Smith, Earl Smith, Charlie Jenkins, Chester Jenkins, A. W. Foy, Milson Walters, Wilton Pettit, Buster Burkhalter and Willie Wood.
