COLUMBIA — Services for Hazel Richards Carter, 85, of 199 Culver Avenue, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Grace Advent Christian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed by Brice W. Herndon and Sons Funeral Home. Mrs. Carter died Monday, August 19, 2002 in the Brian Center in Columbia. Born in North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Abram Grant Richards and Lilly Gibbs Richards. She was a member of Grace Advent Christian Church in Walterboro where she was a member of the Women's Home and Foreign Missions Society. She was married to the late Rev. Harry Thayer Carter Sr. Surviving are son and daughter-in- law, Thayer and Hermione Carter of Columbia; sister, Mildred Catterton of Ridgeland; grandchildren, Carrie Elizabeth Tompkins and Harry Thayer Carter III; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kaitlyn and Donovan.The State, Columbia, South Carolina, August 21, 2002
