CHARLESTON - Services for Reverend Harry Thayer Carter, Sr., 86, of 199 Culver Ave., will be held at 1 p.m. at Grace Advent Christian Church with burial in church cemetery. Family will receive friends at Brice W. Herndon & Sons Funeral Home on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. Rev. Carter died Friday, November 3, 2000 in Wildwood Place of Columbia. Born in Colleton Co., he was a son of the late William Henry Carter and Zula Frank Carter. He was a retired Scientific Programmer for Medical University of South Carolina. He was a member of Grace Advent Christian Church, an ordained Advent Christian Minister having pastored at Ridgeland, Dearing, Georgia and Waycross Georgia. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Richard Carter; son and daughter-in-law, Harry Thayer, Jr. and Hermione Carter of Columbia; brothers, Wendell Carter, Jimmy Carter, both of Walterboro; grandchildren, Carrie Elizabeth Tompkins, Harry Thayer Carter, III; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Clark, Katlyn Tompkins, Donovan Tompkins.The State, Columbia, South Carolina, November 5, 2000
