CONCORD - Shirley Ruth Kirby Tyner, 67, wife of William Thomas Tyner Jr. of 745 Fisher St., Concord, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 27, 2006, at her home. Funeral services will be held at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1700 Plaza Ave., Kannapolis, on Sunday, July 30, 2006, at 3 p.m., with the Rev. Steve Sexton and the Rev. Harold Parker officiating. Graveside services will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 29, 2006, at Whitley's Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Born Oct. 14, 1938, in Cabarrus County, Mrs. Tyner was the daughter of the late A.D. "Dewey" Kirby and Naomi Furr Kirby. In her earlier years, she was a waitress and had retired because of disability from Cannon Mills. She also owned a small craft store, Crafts 'n Things. Mrs. Tyner was a devoted member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Kannapolis, where she loved to sing praises to the Lord. She let everyone know her beliefs and loved to talk about the Lord to everyone. Mrs. Tyner was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Arthur Sloan Fox Sr.; two brothers, Buck Kirby and Barry Kirby; and two sisters, Barbara Ferguson and Maxine Leonard. Mrs. Tyner is survived by her wonderful and devoted husband, William T. Tyner Jr., whom she loved dearly and affectionately called "her Buddy"; her children, Arthur Sloan Fox Jr. and wife, Debbie Fox, of Philadelphia, Pa., Stacey Elaine Raper and husband, Danny Raper, of Kannapolis, Timothy Carlee Fox Sr. and wife, Barbara Fox, of Kannapolis, Charles Randall Fox and wife, Jeannie Fox, of Kannapolis, Joey Lynn Fox and wife, Janice Fox, of Landis, Angela Lynn Tyner of Albemarle, Regina Joy Tyner and Rhonda of Asheville and Jeffrey Scott Tyner and wife, Cindy, of Concord. Mrs. Tyner loved all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which include, grandchildren, Brian, Scott, Timmy, J.R., Charlie, Brandon, Brittany, Ashley, Christa, Shirley, Malia, Navada, Casey, Terry, Joshua, Jennifer, Justin, Lisa, Aaron, Jalyn, Kelly, Miracle, and great-grandchildren, Blake, Jenna, Tabitha, Trajan, Clorisa, Chaleur, Anthony, Cory, Kolby, Memphis, Savannah, Gracie, Isabel, Bean, Olivia, Josh, Whitney and Christina. She is also survived by one sister, Patricia Kirby Black of Garden City, S.C.; and two brothers, Rayvon Kirby of Salisbury and Ronald Kirby of Atlanta.
