Death
Reverend Louie Aldred "Bud' Simpson, 84, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 29, 2017. Bud was born on November 17, 1932 in Union County, son of the late Louie Ervin and Velma Broome Simpson. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Pamela Denise Simpson, two brothers, Mick and Don Simpson. Reverend Simpson was retired from AT & T after twenty-five years of service, and was retired from the ministry after serving Maple Grove Baptist Church, Wayside Baptist, Pine Grove Baptist, New Hope Baptist, Mineral Springs Baptist and Oakdale Baptist. Visitation will be Friday evening, September 1, 2017 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at the McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Simpson will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, with his grandson Reverend Jason Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Price Cemetery, with Military Honors, as he was a Korean War Veteran. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rachel Dorton Simpson, one daughter, Chandra Simpson Myers and Husband Danny of Indian Trail, three grandchildren, Reverend Jason Myers and Christie, Carla Myers Hildreth and Andy, Jill Carraway Therrien and Alex, five great grandchildren, Elizabeth Myers, Judah Myers, Gracie Hildreth, Porter Therrien, Owen Therrien, siblings, Heath Simpson (Lib), Keith Simpson (Judy), Lowell Simpson (Jackie), Elsie Helms, Shelby Rash (Phil), Pat Monda (Nick), Ann Austin (Ken), Libby Taylor (Carroll) and Sara Furr.
