Death

Rebecca “Becky” Faye Furr McAlister, 66, of Mooresville, N.C., passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023, in Conway, S.C. She was born December 1, 1956, in Mecklenburg County, N.C., to Bobby Van Furr and Daphne Martin Furr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Edward Wayne Braddock, and her second husband, James Allen McAlister. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and had a very “green thumb.” She enjoyed listening to country music and loved going to the beach. More than anything, Becky loved being with her grandchildren and with her family, especially around the holidays. She retired as a director of Food Services for Davidson College after 32 years of service. Becky is survived by her children, Billy Braddock, and his companion, Cindy Hawkins, and Tara McAlister and husband David; sisters, Cathy Bottenfield and husband Jimmy, Wanda Kirkley and husband Mike, and Cindy Drye and husband Kevin; brother, Bobby V. Furr Jr. and wife Laurie; and grandchildren, Justin Williams, Dalton, and Ashlee McAlister. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 8, from 3 to 4 p.m. at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be at 4 p.m., also at the funeral home, with Eddie Karriker officiating.
