CONCORD David Leon Hartsell, 74, of Concord, passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. He was born April 4, 1940, in North Carolina, to the late Robert Hartsell and the late Clara Faye Hartsell. David worked, since retirement from Cannon Mills, for the City of Concord, stopping traffic at school crosswalks. He also coached softball for Miami Baptist and First Church of God on Corbin Ave. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., this evening (Wednesday, June 25), at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 26, at 1 p.m., at Miami Baptist Church in Concord, officiated by the Rev. Robert Howard. The burial will follow at the Miami Baptist Church Cemetery, 6701 Miami Church Rd., Concord. Survivors include wife, Rachel Elaine Hartsell of Concord; son, Stacey Hartsell of Concord; daughter, Robin Hartsell Furr of Concord; daughter, Penny Denise Holleman of Kannapolis; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Gladys Lambert and Gaynell Hartsell, both of Concord. Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Hartsell family.
