Death

CONCORD Phyllis "Jean" Cochrane Furr, 89, of Concord, passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at her home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord today (Wednesday, Oct. 24), from 2 to 4 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Perkins officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Jean was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Cabarrus County to the late Lacy Lee and Lula Grace Williams Cochrane. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Willie "Bill" Furr, in 2000; and sister, Ruth Gray. Jean was a teacher in the Cabarrus County School System, and a member of Ann Street United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Furr Wise and husband, Don, of Chapin, S.C.; sons, John Paul Furr and wife, Susan, of Concord and David Furr and wife, Janet, of Fuquay-Varina; brother, Ray Cochrane and wife, Mary, of Concord; sister, Marie Kellough, of Greenville, S.C.; brother-in-law, Paul M. Furr, of Concord; grandchildren, Sara vanDriel and husband, Marinus, Andy Wise, Zachary and Meghan Furr, and Jonathan and Rebekah Furr; great-granddaughter, Evy vanDriel. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Ln., Kannapolis, NC. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Furr family.
