Garland Lyell FURR

Major Garland L. Furr, son of Lee W. Furr of Sicily Island, La., has reported to the Will Rogers Field in Oklahoma to the army air force bombardment base. He received his commission on June 14, 1926 at Louisiana State university in the infantry reserve, and was promoted to the rank of major in September, 1942. Major Furr graduated from the Sicily Island High school in 1922 and received his B. S. degree in agriculture from the Louisiana State university, where he had four years of R. O. T. C. training. Before entering the army, he was junior plant quarantine inspector for the U.S.D.A. at Brownsville, Texas.
