Death

The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Midland, with the Rev. Dale Jenkins and the Rev. Bob Weatherly officiating. Burial will be at Howell's Baptist Church Cemetery, Concord. Graveside Military rites will be performed by the Cabarrus County DAV Chapter 27. Mr. Barbee was born Dec. 6, 1932, in Cabarrus County, the son of the late Roy William Barbee Sr. and the late Eva Idell (Furr) Barbee. He had been employed by Craftsman Hosiery, Concord. He also sold firewood during the time he worked at the hosiery mill. Mr. Barbee was a lifetime member of the Cabarrus County DAV Chapter 27. He was a member of Howell's Baptist Church, Concord. Mr. Barbee was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Marie (Carpenter) Barbee. Survivors include his son, Billy Wayne Barbee of Chester, S.C.; daughters, Martha Ann (Barbee) Caudill of Midland and Synthia Renay (Barbee) Furr of Concord; brother, Frank Barbee of Concord; sisters, Betty Stewart and Irene Campbell, both of Concord, and Wilma Clontz of Midland; grandchildren, Jackie McClamrock, Cindy Furr and Johnny McClamrock; and three great-grandchildren.
