Death

David Franklin Long, 77, of Concord, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at CMC-NorthEast. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, March 15, 2013 from 2 until 4 PM. Funeral services will follow in the chapel , officiated by Rev. Roger Bostic and Rev. Adam Furr. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis. Mr. Long was born on May 27, 1935, to the late Adam “Pete” Long and Lizzie Belle Clay Long. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Cynthia Ruth Lee Long, sister, Edith Trull, brothers, Richard, A.J., Carl, and William Long. David was a member of the DAV, VFW and the American Legion. He loved to fish, garden, to watch NASCAR racing, and to raise doves. He is survived by his children, Kellie Furr and husband Ray of Mt. Pleasant, Melissa Patterson of Concord, Timothy Long of Kannapolis, and Connie Honeycutt and husband Chuck of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Kristin, Emily, Adam, Daniel, Justin, Allyson, Bryan, Jordan, and Matt; great grandchildren, David, Marie, Cedar, and Aiden; sister, Ashlyn Thomas; brother, Alfard Long.
