Death

Brookhaven — Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Monroe Furr, 67. Mrs. Furr died Sunday, August 27, at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Brookhaven, following an extended illness envolving a heart ailment. A firm believer in ‘‘flowers while you live’’, the passing of Mrs. Furr is mourned by many friends and acquaintences. Her husband, who died in 1941, was for many years the manager of the Lincoln County Farm and Paupers home. After her husband's death, Mrs. Furr made her home with a son, John Earl Furr, 1 1-2 miles east of Brookhaven, where she was visited in the last years of her life by many ex-prisoners and paupers whom she befriended while assisting her husband at the County Farm. Mrs. Furr was a Methodist. Officiating at the services, at Union Hall church, were Rev. Edwin Burns, Rev. J. P. Brewer, Rev. Poole and Rev. Vickers. Six of her nephews served as pallbearers. Mrs. Furr is survived by two brothers, Henry Cox, Monticello, and Otto Cox, Baton Rouge; five sisters, Mrs. M. J. Russell, Brookhaven; Mrs. Leoto Boggs, Ovette; Mrs. Anna Rutledge, Sontag: Mrs. Stella Cothern, North Little Rock, Ark.; and Mrs. E. A. Rouge, Clement Falls, Oregon; four sons, Prentiss R. Dan B., Preston M., and John E. Furr, all of Brookhaven. Ten Grandchildren and one great-grand child.
