KANNAPOLIS - Gertha Olivia Holshouser, 91, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at NorthEast Medical Center after being in declining health for several years and seriously ill for three and and a half weeks. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home Chapel, Kannapolis, with the Rev. David Prather, the Rev. Ray Pennell and the Rev. Coy Privette officiation. Interment will be at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Whitley's Funeral Home. Mrs. Holshouser was born Nov. 12, 1914, in Anson County, the daughter of the late Decasta Parvin Nance and the late Mollie High Nance. She had been a resident of th area since 1936. She was a homemaker and formerly a very active member of North Kannapolis Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school in the primary department, volunteered with vacation Bible school, actively participated for many years with the Charming Years Senior program and was active with the training union in earlier years. Mrs. Holshouser and her husband had been married for 70 years. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters. Survivors include her husband, H. Harold Holshouser; daughter Alta Furr and husband, Ray, of Concord; granddaughter, Tia Mangum and husband, Brian, of Concord; two great-grandchildren, Ansley and Matthew. Memorials may be made to North Kannapolis Baptist Church, 312 Locust St., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
