Death
KANNAPOLIS - Hilda Raye Litaker Morris, 78, of 627 W. 22nd Street, died Thursday May 6, 2004 at NorthEast Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Whitley’s Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Marler Starnes will officiate. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitley’s Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at 2620 S. Main St., Concord, the home of a grandson, Jeff Cooper. Born Sept.19, 1925, in Cabarrus County, she was the daughter of the late Newton Pharr Litaker and Clara Smith Litaker. She had been employed with Cannon Mills Company Plant No. 1 sewing room for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed attending Friendship Freewill Baptist Church, Kannapolis, and she had a special love for fishing and shopping. Survivors include three daughters, Darolene Goodman of Concord, Vickie Shumake of Kannapolis and Debbie Tyner of Kannapolis; two sons, Michael (Randy) Morris of Kannapolis and Jerry Morris of Kannapolis; three sisters, Gladys Litaker of Salisbury, Margaret Seaford of Concord and Betty Furr of Kannapolis; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Whitley’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Endnotes
