Death
Elizabeth Haire Walker, 82, of 103 O'Hara Lane, passed away unexpectedly at her residence Saturday afternoon. She was born in Iredell County on June 18, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Jacob Alvin and Cleo Elizabeth Eidson Haire. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Walker; a brother, Ronald Haire; and a sister, Virginia Goldbaugh. She is survived by her children; Maston (Pam) Walker, MeLinda (Linwood) Thurlow, Mindy Campbell and Melda (Jimmy) Goodin, all of Statesville, and Murray (Brenda) Walker, of Stony Point, and Marsha (Mike) Furr, of Concord. She is survived by a brother, James Haire, and a sister, Betty Mitchell, both of Statesville. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She also leaves behind her faithful companion, Muffin. Elizabeth was a graduate of Cool Spring High School and was a Southern Bell Supervisor early in her career. She also worked for Iredell County in both the school system and the tax office, however, her life career was that of a master tailor, having customers as far away as France. Elizabeth was an avid gardener and loved gifting plants. She loved to entertain family and friends and was deeply devoted to all around her, loving each dearly. She had a special place in her heart for animals and those less fortunate than herself. She was a member of Corinth Church of Christ in Woodleaf and loved her church family dearly. Services celebrating her life are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Corinth Church of Christ with R.D. McDaniel officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in Abilene Church of Christ Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at all other times the family will be at Elizabeth's resi-dence. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Lung Association, 8300 Health Park, Suite 316, Raleigh, NC 27615.
