Death
LANCASTER -- John Wesley “Smiley” Sims, 61, of 207 S. York St. died Monday. Born in Union County, N.C., he was a son of the late Samuel James and Leila Williams Sims. He was a retired machinist. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. Diane Jenkins of Marshville, N.C., and Mrs. Marge Pope of Wingate, N.C.; sons, Mark Sims of Monroe, N.C., and Richard A. and J. Michael Sims, both of Lancaster; a sister, Mrs. Magaline Carter of Butner, N.C; and a brother, Marvin Sims of Lancaster. Services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Mahaffey Memorial Chapel, with burial in Lancaster Memorial Park.The State, Columbia, South Carolina, February 28, 1990
