Sunday, March 19, 2006 — Matthew Turner Cagle, 90. of 44374 NC Hwy. 740, New London, died at 8:20 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2006, in Stanly Memorial Hospital. His funeral will be at 2 p,.m Monday in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Otis Goins and The Rev. Dolan Humphries will officiate and burial will be in Oakboro Cemetery. Born Jan. 29, 1916, in Anson County, he was a son of the late John Wilkes Cagle and Lina Agnes Ballard Cagle and was a truck driver for Pure Oil Company. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He loved gardening. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Ida Floyd Cagle; a loving son-in-law, David Furr; brothers, Pat, George and Robert Cagle, and sisters, Kate Whitley, Pearl Hatley and Ethel Lowder. He is survived by a daughter, Judy Cagle Furr of New London; a sister, Ann Cagle Stallings of Albemarle; a granddaughter Tonya Woodall and husband Scott of New London; a grandson, Mac Smith of New London; a great-grandaughter, Amy Mabe and husband Johnathan of Star; a great-grandaughter, Ana Woodall of U NC Greensboro; a great-granddaughter, Lisa Walters of Pembroke; a great-grandson, USMC Pvt. Matthew Woodall of St. Louis, Mo.; a great-grandson, USMC Pvt. PFC Tyler Russell of CP Johnson, NC; and great-great-grandchildren, Sammie and Megan Mabe of Star. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. At other times they will be at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N.
