Death
Don Hefner WINGATE -- Mr. Hefner, 76, of Wingate, formerly of Indian Trail, NC, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday evening, April 22, 2009 at Hospice House of Union County. Mr. Hefner was born October 4, 1932, in Mecklenburg County son of the late Bud and Victoria Furr Hefner, and was also preceded in death by two sisters: Margaret Helms and Jo Vina Helms, three brothers: Bobby Heffner, Guy Heffner and Kenneth Heffner. Don was a Charter Member of the First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, a retired heavy equipment operator with the N.C. Highway Department, and a retired Volunteer Fireman with the Stallings Fire Department. A Service to celebrate the life of Don will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at the First Baptist Church of Indian Trail, with his pastors, Rev. Mike Whitson and Rev. Danny Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at the church. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Joyce Baucom Hefner of the home; one son, Tony Hefner and wife Libby, of Marshville, NC; one daughter, Donna Hefner McKinney and husband Terry, of Marshville NC; two grandchildren, Andy McKinney and Jessica Hefner; one great grandchild, Jordan McKinney; one sister, Janice Aycoth; and two brothers, Bill Heffner and Jimmy Heffner. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Indian Trail Building Fund, P.O. Box 2550, Indian Trail, NC 28079 or to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110. The family would like to give special thanks to their dear friends, Rev. Mike Whitson, Rev. Sammy Thomas, Rev. Danny Myers and Dr. Maurice Henson.
